Turning Your Feedback into School Improvements
Last November, we launched our new Student and Family Experience Surveys. The feedback we received from David Douglas High School students and families provided us with valuable insights into our strengths and areas for improvement.
Feedback was collected from 1,451 students and 102 parents/guardians. The results have been analyzed to inform our decision-making and guide school improvement efforts.
Here are a few things we learned from the student survey:
Our Strength
- 88.9% of students know what to do during an emergency at school (Hold, Secure Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter).
- 79.7% of students report having at least one trusted adult in the building they can talk to.
- 87.1% of students feel their teachers encourage them to participate, share ideas, and ask questions.
- 90.4% of students feel that adults at their school respect people from different backgrounds.
Progress Areas
- 72.8% of students report that teachers explain concepts in a way they understand, up from 49% from December 2024 YouthTruth results.
Areas for Improvement
- 62.4% of students indicated their teachers talk about how what we learn connects to future jobs or college.
- 63.1% of students are part of a school club, team, or another school group.
Together, we are empowering all of our DDHS students to reach their highest potential. Our ability to improve is driven by the feedback we receive from our families and students. We will continue to listen and learn, and we look forward to doing this again!
