Double D Early Learning Lab
Welcome
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Double D Early Learning Lab. We are pleased that you have chosen to participate in our program. We hope that this experience will prove to be a positive one and are looking forward to having your child with us.
PURPOSE
The Double D Early Learning Lab has been in existence for over forty years as an in school career experience for high school students. Students working in the Early Learning Lab are sophomores, juniors and seniors. The program provides an opportunity to learn about child development through hands-on experiences within a supervised classroom laboratory setting. Please remember that this is a teaching program for the benefit of the high school students and not a private school.
GOALS
Double D Early Learning Lab has two primary goals:
*To provide an opportunity for high school students to gain an understanding of the development of children and the career area of Early Childhood Education.
*To provide an environment for young children that encourages growth of the whole child, in all areas of development.
PHILOSOPHY
Double D Early Learning Lab is a developmentally appropriate school, which provides opportunities for children to grow in the following domains of development: physical, emotional/social, cognitive and language. The children learn through their play experiences. Our program promotes self-esteem, independence and social-emotional development.
This program is designed to:
- Provide a warm supportive environment and initiate life long learning
- Promote a varied range of language experiences
- Foster pre-math and pre-science experiences through active exploration using age appropriate materials
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, and self-esteem through child centered activities
- Provide opportunities for children to develop problem solving and social skills

During the school day, the students work with the children on a variety of lessons, activities, observations and assessments. Every Wednesday the high school students complete classwork on various early childhood topics. If you would like more information on their coursework and textbooks please feel free to ask. | |
