Following years of planning and dedicated community support, the David Douglas School District is proud to announce the official opening of our Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center. The doors opened to students on Monday, January 26, after the Grand Opening Celebration.

Since the passage of the 2022 bond, the district has worked tirelessly to build its new CTE Center and enhance schools district-wide. We extend our gratitude to the community support throughout every step of the process, with a special thank you to those who attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House. The opening was a true success. Former David Douglas School Board Member Annette Mattson notes, “By giving them the tools they need to achieve their goals, I hope our students know that we believe in them.”

Due to this ongoing community commitment:

• Students continue participating in hands-on learning to gain experience with industry tools, earn professional certifications, and more. 
• We are bridging the gap between the classroom and the real world, increasing career readiness. 

But the possibilities are endless! A David Douglas High School 12th-grade student in our Education and Health Science pathway expressed excitement and said, “There is definitely going to be more we can do with this building. We can have more people come in for activities since it’s more spacious. Everyone will get a better experience.” 

CTE Manufacturing Teacher Greg Keller views this as the finest educational facility he has ever seen, including those at the college level. He shares that this modern space allows the district to provide the engaging, real-world experiences our students need and represents a major achievement in delivering the opportunities the David Douglas community deserves.

The support of the David Douglas community will have a lasting impact. The ultimate reward is seeing our students thrive in these classrooms for years to come.
